Tambura Rasa will be playing Friday night at the Capitol Theatre.
Tambura Rasa combines a collection of sounds from various cultural backgrounds such as Gypsy, Balkan, Middle-Eastern. African, spanning to South American and Asian as well. In their songs that have a Middle-Eastern and/or flamenco feel to them, their flamenco and belly dancers are featured.
This is a show you don't want to miss, as it is a unique opportunity.
According to the band's guitarist, Ivan Tucakov, their show is regularly enjoyed by any demographic. Within the band itself, the age range of the members covers decades. People who like to come see live dancing and enjoy intricate world music will love it. If you like music filled with grooves that you can dance to, you will also want to be in the audience.
People will leave the show with a smile on their face, guaranteed.
The band is excited to perform in Port Alberni, because they have only ever passed through here on their way to gigs in Ucluelet and Tofino.
"Music brings people together," Tucakov said. "Combining a variety of styles, which is what we do, helps gather people from diverse places, thus creates a community where everyone can enjoy and celebrate music and life together."
Tambura Rasa will be playing the the Capitol Theatre Friday, Feb. 26, 7 pm. Tickets, $18 adults, $16 seniors/students, are available at the Rollin Art Centre, Echo Centre ands Somass Drugs. All tickets at the door are $20.
